Profile of the company
VSK a.s. is located in Spišska Nova Ves – Novoveská Huta. It is a member of an international group, VSK Mining GROUP, which deals in the extraction of mineral deposits. VSK a.s. executes mining activities with the purpose of extraction and further treatments of reserved minerals gypsum – anhydrite for the needs of cement and lime plants.
The primary goal of the company is providing high quality of offered services and products and the creation of permanent work positions in our region. Currently, VSK a.s. employs 72 employees on permanent contracts. A strong emphasis is put on sustainable development in compliance with safety and environmental protection standards.

The stock company named PETRA a.s., was established by the memorandum of association dated 04/06/1995 under the Act 513/1991 Coll. with the aim to privatize the mine named Maria Sadrovka Novoveská Huta. Privatization was carried out on 07/10/1998. On 01/ 01/ 2004 the original company PETRA Inc. was renamed to Východoslovenské kameňolomy, a.s.

From 1/1/2004 the company Východoslovenské kameňolomy, Inc. took over a part of mining areas and of employees from VSK MINING GROUP. In addition to the mine Mária, plaster plant Novoveská Huta, quarry Spiš Gretla and quarry Vechec, the company had the right of extraction in the mining areas of quarries Záhradné, Sedlice I, Honce, Šafárka, Slanec, Hubošovce, Marmon, Silická Brezová, Kamienka, Horná Štubňa, Breziny, Ostrá Lúka, Ľuboreč - Lysec, Klastava, Malá Lehota, Bystričany - Dolina, Dolná Ždaňa, Mokrá Lúka, Vinné and sandpit Šíd.

From 01/01/2007 the company was transformed by separation of surface mining in the quarries from deep mining in the mines. Gradually, 21 DP quarries for building stone were transferred to a newly created sister company VSK MINERAL s.r.o., Košice in the first half of 2007. Východoslovenské kameňolomy, a.s, was left with remaining two plants for mining and processing of gypsum and anhydrite, Mine Mária „plaster plant“ Novoveská Huta and quarry Šafár.

In the first half of 2010, the company took over following mining areas again: Dolná Ždaňa, Ostrá Lúka, Ľuboreč, Šíd, Malá Lehota, Bystričany, Klastava, Silická Brezová, Stará Ľubovňa and Vinné.

VSK a.s.belongs to the group VSK MINING GROUP, which provides extraction, processing services and sale of minerals outside the Slovak Republic such as in Poland and Russia too.
